Multipolar, a type of radiofrequency, means that radiofrequency waves are passed back and forth through the treatment head via multiple poles, allowing for a much faster and more even heating of the fatty tissue to the therapeutic temperature. Radiofrequency is all about generating heat in the fat and skin tissue, so it can heat up the fat cells to the point where the fatty acids are released into the lymphatic circulation and then out of the body. This reduces the size of the fat cells and shrinks them: the therapeutic temperature for fat removal is between 41 and 44°C, at which temperature the fat cells are heated, their permeability is increased and the fatty acids and toxins they contain are eliminated.
